Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and the Thematic Sculptures
To celebrate the release of the new Marvel Studios filmGuardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3the Italian artistMarco Lodolhas created six luminous sculptures inspired by the highly anticipated third and final chapter of the trilogyProtector of the GalaxyFrom James Gunnwhich will be released in Italian cinemas on May 3rd.
The original neon works representing the logo and the protagonists of the film – Peter Quill, Drax, Groot, Rocket, Nebula and Mantis – illuminate the facade of the Robertaebasta art gallery in Via Fiori Chiari 3, in the heart of Brera, further on the occasion of Milan Design Week until April 23rd.
“They are pop works that tell of a multi-faceted and luminous universe.”, explained the artist Marco Lodola. “An irreverent saga that does not forget the iconic character of key scenes and heroes, on the contrary, it transforms a seemingly disjointed “bunch” into a group of heroes. An eccentric world full of colors made up of a paste that has the irony of postmodern cinema and follows the rhythm of a soundtrack that becomes the protagonist. The music is physical, held in the protagonist’s Walkman, and unleashes almost as much power and light as the images. A mix(tape) that has always shaped my work“.
Marco Lodola is exclusively represented by Deodato Arte, a brand that includes art galleries with offices in Milan, Rome, Porto Cervo, Chia, Pietrasanta, Courmayeur, Brussels and St. Moritz. Since 2010, it proposes internationally renowned modern and contemporary artists such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and Banksy, with a strong focus on pop, street and urban culture, to whom solo and group exhibitions are dedicated with artists such as Romero Britto, Takashi Murakami, Mr Brainwash.
