Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse review: Miles is back
Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse Review| Following the release of the acclaimed and innovative Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, Spider-Man fans’ expectations skyrocketed and the second chapter in Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen’s trilogy presented a difficult task, which they had to fulfill. Miles Morales returns for an epic adventure that takes our Brooklyn hero through the multiverse to team up with Gwen Stacy and a new team of superheroes.
The Redemption of Miles Morales
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse takes place just one year after the events of its predecessor. In these times, Miles Morales played the role of the uniqueSpiderman of his universe, learns and improves with kicks, punches and swings. However, after the return of his fellow adventurers to their respective universes, something broke within him, and most notably the desire to see the other Spider-Men againGwen Stacyis getting stronger.
Spider-Gwen’s character is one of the most successful and profound.In the first few bars of the feature film, an insight into its history can actually be gained. Only the superheroine is forced to reveal her identity to her father and becomes hostile towards her at the end of a battle with another villain who escaped from her original universe Spider-Gwen will lead her to a painful decision: she decides to join a team of Spider-Men dedicated to maintaining the balance of the multiverse and making sure no one sneaks onto planets other than her own.
An interesting and non-trivial story
Even though the topic of the multiverse has been more than inflationary for a number of years, The film succeeds in the difficult task of being unpredictable and predictable. The Adventures ofMiles, committed to defeat The Maquisa supervillain, which (somewhat forcedly) ties into the events of the first film, are rich in narrative complexity that does not, however, make the vision difficult to understand, but rather gives the feeling of being able to marvel at the scene.
Perhaps one of the very few sore spots in the film is the super villainwho, as already mentioned, may not be entirely convincing and changes from a main threat to a background character as the story progresses.
Far more successful is the relationship dynamic between Miles’ parentsjeff and rio,and her amazing son. The themes of the teenager’s alienation, the suffering of the hidden secret, and the characters involved are explored in depth. The narrative rhythm is excellent, with a successful alternation of action scenes and introspection. The ending is reminiscent of the third and final chapter of the trilogy that will be released next year and is therefore anything but self-contained.
An exceptional technical site
The strength of the entire film certainly lies in the graphic and tonic side.The animators did an excellent job, using a recognizable (perhaps already iconic) style that left us gaping at numerous moments.
The battle scenes are wonderful, as is the dialogue scenes, and any frame in the film can easily be used as a wallpaper. In a word: amazing.
If the graphic side has electrified us, the implementation must also be commended tonal range: The film’s soundtrack perfectly accompanies the scenes and the FX represents perhaps one of the highlights of the entire animation film industry.
One thing is for sure: it will be very difficult to get better from a technical point of view.
In summary, Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse is one of the best movies of 2023. With a brilliant narrative and well-developed characters, combined with an amazing graphic side and a more than convincing sound sector, we are sure that it will not have disappointed the most loyal fans of the Miles Morales saga.
